50 years ago an art dealer named Muriel Latow proposed to Andy Warhol that he started creating prints of soup cans and money. For the idea the artist paid her $50.

On the anniversary of this moment we entered the conversation about ‘what is ownership?’The exhibition was a conceptual setup with a provided strict viewing experience to trigger the viewer into developing ideas from seeing each work individually in the same place as a collective group. This added a theatrical element to the gallery space, presenting the audience with a constant changing room.

The were either new media, live installation or performance. Each piece was left in the space for an extended time to enable a discussion to develop, and at this point the process was repeated for the following work.
We wanted the viewer to question when an idea becomes owned, and the time frame in which the idea exist.

MY WORK:
“Open Your Eyes Please (And the Other Works We Lost)”

Photography/Online Performance

I follow the traces of a photograph on its journey through the online consciousness.

All the way through the various steps from creator to mediator, capturer, viewer and distributor. The different contexts communicate new meanings added to the work, providing an image with a turbulent record where the ownership seems long lost.

What does online sharing do with our sense of censorship/ ownership? When is ownership lost?
